Harper's 3rd Birthday

Our little bit had her big third birthday party a few weekends ago.  She had been waiting for her "mermaid" party for quite a while, so it was definitely an anticipated event!  We had the party at our house and had family and friends over to celebrate. We had a great time and after the party was over James, Andrea, Ben, Deloris, Linda and Annie stayed for a while for some bocce ball and golf practice.  

Last Thursday on her actual birthday we started the day by letting Harper open some presents.  Then later that night some of our family met up at a local Mexican restaurant to celebrate (another Thompson family tradition).

Bear Wallow

We recently made our annual trip to Bear Wallow Pumpkin Patch.  This is becoming a family tradition and the kids love it!  It was one of the chilliest mornings we've had so far and of course I forgot to pack Aubrey a jacket. Afterwards we stopped by Haney's Apple Orchard for some yummy fried apple pies and apple cider slushy.  All was going well until Harper busted her lip on the playground outside the orchard.  It swelled and bruised immediately, but she handled it like a trooper and was back to playing in a matter of minutes.  That one continues to amaze me in how well she handles getting hurt.  Later that afternoon we went to the Zombie Walk in downtown Somerset, then headed home to watch the Cats play.  There are very few things I enjoy more than starting family traditions with my girls.  This is quickly becoming one of my favorite traditions!

Louisville Zoo

About a month back Aubrey had her 1st grade field trip to the Louisville Zoo. Although it started out disastrously (they tried to keep the whole school together initially), we ended up having a wonderful time! It was amazing because BJ and I actually got to hang out with other adults for a few hours! :)  Afterwards we ate at Havana Rumba which is my absolute favorite restaurant in Louisville!
